About Sarah Dodge

A Grand Prix rider and trainer Sarah Dodge has 15 years experience competing and training at the FEI level. Her riding and training reflect her dedication and passion for the sport of dressage.

Sarah began riding at the age of 12 and quickly turned to dressage. She started competing at the FEI Young Rider level in 1995. In 1997 Sarah was awarded the Asmis Scholorship for training abroad. This enabled her to spend three months with renowned riding master Johann Hinneman in Germany.  Sarah had many successes at the Young Rider level including competing at the North American Young Rider's Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1999. She placed fourth individually in 1999 with her wonderful partner Format.

Following her successes as a Young Rider, Sarah was invited to return to Germany to train with Conrad Schumacher and hone her skills as a Grand Prix rider. Living, training and competing her two FEI horses Format and Woodman in Europe was an invaluable experience for Sarah. In 2000 Sarah and her horses traveled to Spain to compete in the Sunshine Tour. Competing in both the small (Prix St. George and Int. I) and big (Int. II and Grand Prix) tour Sarah posted many good scores as well as gaining more international competition experience.

In 2001, Sarah accepted a Bereiter position at Michael Klimke's and later with Ralph Michael Rash (Former Director of the German Riding School). Under their expert guidance Sarah spent the next year training horses for show and sale. Through this invaluable experience Sarah developed a unique talent for recognizing and developing young dressage prospects. She has returned to Europe on several occasions to help clients purchase horses through her large network of contacts.

Returning to Colorado in 2002, Sarah started her own training business Sarah Dodge Dressage. In addition to competing her own horses, Wetten Das?, and Lorenzo, Sarah has had many successful Amateur and JR/YR students. Her students have taken home numerous awards, including several regional and local championships, as well as many prestigious Horse of the Year titles. Several of Sarah's clients will be returning to the show ring in 2010. With students competing from training level thru Prix St. George, Sarah is looking forward to a great 2010 show season.
