Training

A picture of Sarah Dodge riding LorenzoSarah Dodge realized that she wanted to train and ride professionally at a very early age. She also knew that Germany was the place to learn a defined system for training horses and riders. After receiving the Asmis Scholarship and with help from Anne Barrett and Conrad Schumacher, Sarah was able to realize her goal of training in Germany. She has had the good fortune of working extensively with some of the sport's most respected trainers, including Johann Hinnemann, Michael Klimke, Ralph Michael Rash and Conrad Schumacher.

Sarah brings a clear understanding of the German system to her riding and training. She believes that a systematic and methodical approach to training are paramount. However, her horses are treated as individuals and are allowed to develop at a pace that keeps the joy in their work. This is evident in the relaxed yet expressive way all of her horses perform. True harmony can only be achieved when horse and rider have fully understood  what is expected of them at each stage of training. It is Sarah's goal to help facilitate this understanding and harmony in all of her clients.

Sarah trains at Dark Star Farm in Franktown, CO. Dark Star is a first class, private facility. It offers an ideal setting for training that includes an indoor arena with sand and rubber footing, an oversized outdoor, 20 stalls with runs, and impeccable care. Sarah has several training options available. They range from weekly lessons to full care training. Sarah also accepts horses in training for competition. She is currently looking for a talented horse to train and compete in International competitions.
