September 2009

As the show season comes to an end I'd like to congratulate all my students on a great job this summer. We had a great season with many highlights, including numerous High Point awards and several year end awards! Congratulations to McKinley Harvey and Maverick they were the 2009 RMDS Junior Training Level Champions and 2009 RMDS Junior Training Level Horse of the Year. Congratulations to Lisa Shimonkevitz and Amiliano CWF they were 2009 RMDS Amateur First Level Horse of the Year. And congratulations to Lisa Scott, her and her horse Bond 007, placed 3rd in 2009 RMDS Amateur Championships at 3rd Level. Also a big thank you to my horse Lorenzo, he earned the Intermediaire 1 Horse of the Year title.

This year also brought several new students to SD Dressage. Katie Pichler and her mare Harmony's Likewise joined the SD Team, they qualified for RMDS Championships at First Level. Sandy Pearce with Lakotah, Terri Leone with Tanza , and Sherri Russell with Royce were also welcomed to the team. Judith Judd and her horse Oncorde joined the SD Dressage team late this summer. Oncorde was the 2009 RMDS Open 4th Level Horse of the Year with his previous trainer. Look for Judith and Oncorde in the show ring in 2010. Heather Sanders also joined our team.  She did a lovely job competing Sue Devlin's horse Winston at 4th Level.

Another great addition to our team this year was Holly Bergay and Grand Ballerina. Holly is a Young Rider who is not only trying for a spot on the 2010 Region 5 Young Rider team, she is also competing to represent the United States at the Para World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010. Holly and Ballerina did their first Young Rider qualifier in Estes Park this summer and won both of their classes as well as winning the FEI High Point ribbon. They are an exciting pair, watch for them in the upcoming show season!

October 2009

10/27/09 Sarah Dodge and Jason Hays were married in Negril, Jamaica! In an incredibly romantic setting, Sarah and Jason tied the knot in a private ceremony on the beach.

November 2009

Holly Bergay and Grand Ballerina were invited by the United States Equestrian Federation to represent dressage and para-equestrian at the AQHA World Show. In a demonstration to promote the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, Holly and Ballerina did a fantastic freestyle demo. Holly was in the company of Olympians Will Simpson, Valerie Kaneavy, and US team members Phillip Dutton and Mike McLennon.  In a very electric arena complete with jumps, driving horses, cows, and of course cowboys, Holly and Ballerina did a stellar job representing Dressage and Para-Equestrian. This was a wonderful opportunity for Holly and Ballerina to perform under extraordinary conditions similar to those that may be encountered at the WEG. By all accounts they are up for the challenge!
